If you consciously consider, take to heart and speak out loud each day these five principles of Reiki, you will have a happy life.

- Just for today, I will let go of anger
- Just for today, I will be kind to all living things
- Just for today, I will earn my life with integrity
- Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings
Number 1 is easy when you know how but very difficult if you don’t. By worry I mean going round in circles thinking and thinking about the same situation or problem, and losing hope. Concern, on the other hand, is consciously considering the situation or problem and thinking of ways to improve it or solve it. For example, covid is a big problem that some will worry about every day and do little or nothing about it, whilst others will be concerned and do something every day to not get it, not give it and take steps to not let the situation upset the balance of their life.
So how do you go from a destructive worry mindset to a constructive concern mindset? Breathe in! Look around you! Look at nature and notice you are alive, nature is alive, life is going on and you only have a few days – a few thousand if you’re lucky – to enjoy this wonderful gift! Yes, life is a gift, you didn’t buy it and you can’t return it for a refund.
So what are you going to do with this gift? Open it and enjoy it, or leave it unwrapped? If you intend to enjoy life you will enjoy life. You will choose goodness and joy over greed and depression every time because it makes you feel good. You will easily let go of worry because you have many more interesting and fun things to do. Obstacles, problems, craziness will come along every day in one form or another — there’s no getting away from that — but when you are thankful for your life, you learn more and more every day how to appreciate whatever your senses and feelings bring your way.
